Cast phenolic nozzle research

Materials & propulsion research

This summer, our team at Cowboy Space Program evaluated high-temperature laminating epoxies and urethane-based thermal protection systems. For the 2026–2027 academic year, I secured faculty mentorship to research phenolic resin composites for ablative rocket nozzles. Building on our materials experiments, I’ll explore whether these composites can improve nozzle strength and simplify manufacturing. I hope this work helps our team develop more robust, easier-to-manufacture nozzles for future propulsion systems.
